Filmmaster and EGA Worldwide for the BIE inspectors’ visit to the city of Rome as part of the bid for EXPO2030.
A week of institutional meetings, cultural moments and entertainment culminated with a large immersive show at the Colosseum Archaeological Park.
The city of Rome’s bid to become the Host City for EXPO2030 continues, kicking off with the visit from delegates of the BIE – Bureau International des Expositions to the city.
From 17 to 22 April, representatives from the inter-government organisation managing the Universal and International Expositions landed in Rome for an extensive programme of official initiatives organised and managed by Filmmaster Events and Ega Worldwide, the two companies that had been awarded the tender in July 2022, to provide planning and execution services for the events and activities in the scope of Rome’s bid to become Host City for EXPO2030.
In addition to a visit to the candidate Expo site in Tor Vergata with a tour that made the candidacy more real, the BIE delegation’s week in Rome involved a team of professionals from the two companies, and included a series of institutional meetings with the heads of civil, regional and national entities. These included the Mayor of the City of Rome, the President of the Lazio Region and the Ministries of Infrastructure, Disabilities, Business and Made in Italy, the Economy and Finance, Tourism, Health and Foreign Affairs – private meetings with the President of the Republic and President of the Council and technical workshops with representatives from industry, universities, the scientific world, associations and stakeholders.
There were also cultural events included in the BIE delegates’ agenda, such as the exclusive tours of the Sistine Chapel, Galleria Colonna and Cinecittà film studios. The events culminated with the entertainment provided at the incredible HUMANLANDS-Aeternal Evolutions show on the evening of Friday 21 April (the traditional date for the Eternal City’s birth date) at the Terrazza di Venere in the Colosseum Archaeological Park.
An immersive show that showcased the intrinsic values of Rome’s bid to become Host City for EXPO2030 – inclusion, culture, innovation, freedom, diversity and the territory, combining music, artistic performances and light shows, with the participation of top stars like Eleonora Abbagnato, Malika Ayane and Dardust. A drone show then also enhanced and enriched the evening, with swarms of lit drones flying above the Colosseum for the very first time, interacting in unison with a dedicated video projection, in a crescendo of harmonious choreographies.
“The conception, organisation and management of this important week when the BIE delegates visited the city of Rome, represented a significant step in the project, which together with Ega Worldwide, sees us supporting the city in its ambitious bid to become the Host City for EXPO2030”, emphasised Antonio Abete, President of Filmmaster. “A time that was highly complex, valuable and relevant, allowing us to once again showcase our ability of knowing how to fully interpret and realise unique and multifaceted experiences”, added Antonio Abete.
“EXPO 2030 is an enormous opportunity for Rome, for Italy, for the events industry and for all our youngsters. An ambitious environmental regeneration project for the Tor Vergata area, connecting it to the centre, which will drive significant investments, millions of tourists and thousands of events”, underlined Claudia Maria Golinelli, Vice President of Ega Worldwide. “This is why the visit from the BIE was a fundamental step and for us, it was a great honour to support the Promoting Committee and all the Institutions together with Filmmaster, in presenting Rome’s bid and immersing the BIE delegates in the technical aspects of the Project and its values, allowing them to experience the pulsating heart of our Eternal City”, added Claudia Maria Golinelli.
“Closing off the programme for the BIE delegates’ week-long visit with such an immersive show as HUMANLANDS-Aeternal Evolutions – recognised for its magnificence by both the audience and international media – represented an enormous privilege for Filmmaster Events, as well as providing yet another example of the style that sets us apart”, commented Alfredo Accatino, Chief Creative Officer of Filmmaster Events. “We are extremely proud to have worked on such an important project for the entire country system, which encapsulates the essence of Rome’s bid to become a Host City for EXPO2030. A highly prestigious context, which allowed us to showcase Italian identity, poetry, art and technology in a crescendo of pathos, involvement and innovation, with the backdrop of a location with such a strong historic impact”, concluded Alfredo Accatino.
